Pastor David H. Stephey, 73, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Parkview Hospital Randallia in Fort Wayne. Born in Elkhart, Indiana, David earned his Bachelor in Divinity from Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago. David’s first passion was to be a servant of God and to serve his church family. Pastor David started his 47 year pastoral career at Trinity and St. Paul Lutheran in Rockgrove, IL, he than continued to serve his church family at: Bethel Lutheran in Cicero, IN, St. John Lutheran in Kokomo, IN, St. Mark Lutheran in Monroeville, IN, Zion Lutheran in Hartford City, IN, St. James Lutheran in Holland, IN, St. John Lutheran in Nappanee, IN, before moving to his final church home Emmanuel Lutheran in LaOtto, IN. Along with being a Pastor, David served as a substitute teacher. Pastor David was an accomplished pianist and a train enthusiast. He loved his family and cherished his grandchildren. Surviving are his children Kevin (Sandy) Stephey of Fort Wayne, Jonathon (Andrea) Stephey of Suger Hill, GA, Kimberly (Jerry) Roby of New Albany; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and half sister, Suzy Kerr of ID. David was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Jeanette Stephey, and wife, Judith Stephey. Service is 10:00 am, Friday, June 24, 2016 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 7211 Stellhorn Rd with calling one hour prior, Bishop William O. Gafkjen officiating. Calling at D.O.
